beatrice and paul have been married 24 years (congrats!!!) they have four beautiful children: florence, nick, simon and david (david did not love it when i called him "cute"... apparently not cool to be called cute when 13 years old. couldn't help myself). beatrice and paul were born in belgium so they also have really fantastic accents (i heart accents).
two of beatrice's close friends wrote to me a couple of weeks ago in response to my mother's day giveaway for a free photo session. they thought it would be a lovely gift for beatrice, a very sweet, strong, beautiful mother.
as i drove north on i-5 to meet them yesterday afternoon, it was raining buckets. i did not want to delay this portrait session (and my super awesome dad graciously offered to hold an umbrella over me and camera if necessary), so we decided to go with it. the rain let up right as we pulled into the parking lot. the rain started up again an hour later, just as we were headed out. kismet. ;)
just before mother's day, beatrice was diagnosed with aggressive ovarian cancer.
i am humbled and amazed at the obvious abundance of happiness, love, courage, and hope this family has in facing this challenge.
it was a joy to meet them. i look forward to shooting more of their family photos!
i will try my best not to refer to david as "cute" the next time around.
please keep this lovely family in your thoughts and prayers.

They turned out beautifully Nikki. The colours just pop. So many great shots. They must have been so happy with them.
